Traditional Or Online Dating?

If you grew up in a world where the internet and mobile phones are prevalent, then it's difficult for you to see life before the digital age. Can you imagine doing your homework without going on-line? How about sending an urgent message to your loved one who lives abroad?

How about having to shop for goods that are not available in your local community? Indeed, for most of us who grew up with the World Wide Web, it's challenging to imagine doing certain activities without the internet. For some people, these activities include dating.

Traditional dating generally refers to meeting someone in person, going on dates, calling each other on the phone and talking face-to-face to learn more about each other. Today, the internet has changed the face of the dating world and many people cannot wonder if this is for better or for worse.

Breaking borders

One of the best things about on-line dating is that it allows you to get to know as many people as possible, or as many people who sign up for on-line dating.

Before the internet, many people had a difficult time trying to look for other singles whom they can potentially date.

Basically, dating opportunities were limited to the people at your school or office, the men and women who hang out at the local bar and the blind dates and distant relatives that your friends and families introduce you to once in a while. Needless to say, this can be very limiting on your part. This means that your dating options are limited to your school mates, your office colleagues and the same old people you see in the same old bars. What if the love of your life lives two states away? On-line dating allows you to find your perfect match, regardless of distance and location.

Getting to know each other

Before the internet, getting to know each other began right on the first date.

You have to dress up, go all the way to the restaurant and spend time and money just to see if the person in front of your could be ?the one?. In some cases, people go home disappointed when they learn that they have absolutely nothing in common with their date. Not only did they waste their time and money and wore their good clothes for nothing; they also wasted the hope that they invested on a date.

With on-line dating, you are given the chance to know the person before the actual date so you can know right off the bat if you two will have something in common.
